BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Preston Purifoy and Jordan Swing scored 19 points each to lead Alabama-Birmingham to an 80-57 victory over Rice in a Conference USA game on Saturday.

Fahro Alihodzic scored 10 points, and Swing contributed 10 rebounds and made 8 of 11 from the field while Purifoy was 7 of 8 for the Blazers (12-14, 4-7), who lost to East Carolina 74-71 on Thursday.

UAB leads the series against Rice 9-0.

Tamir Jackson scored 21 points and Julian DeBose had 10 for the Owls (5-20, 1-10), who have lost five in a row and seven of their past eight.

The Blazers shot 50 percent from the field (30 of 60) and made 45.8 percent of their 3-pointers (11 of 24). The Owls shot 36.4 percent (20 of 55) and 16.7 percent (3 of 18).

The second half with a 12-3 run for a 46-28 advantage with 15:15 left and cruised from there.
