MOBILE, Ala. -- Augustine Rubit recorded his 14th double-double of the season with a career-high 34 points and 12 rebounds as South Alabama blew out Louisiana-Lafayette 88-64 Thursday night.
Mychal Ammons also had a double-double, 18 points and 11 rebounds to help South Alabama (15-9, 12-4 Sun Belt Conference) win its fourth in a row.
Ahead 39-28 at halftime, Dre Conner's jumper with less than nine minutes to play put the Jaguars on top 68-47.
Ammons' 3-pointer at the 2:44 mark gave South Alabama its biggest lead of the game, 87-58.
South Alabama shot 49.2 percent (29 of 59) from the field, and made 25 free throws compared to just 12 for Louisiana-Lafayette.
Though South Alabama had just one less turnover than Louisiana-Lafayette, the Jaguars held a 24-8 advantage in points off turnovers.
Elfrid Payton led the Ragin' Cajuns (9-17, 5-10) with 17 points and seven assist.
