CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- Trey Sumler finished with a game-high 26 points, including the game-winning jumper with 2 seconds left to rally Western Carolina past Wofford 57-56 Monday night.
Sumler went 4 of 7 from behind the arc, grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and recorded three steals for Western Carolina (10-15, 7-6 Southern Conference).
Down 50-43 with 7 minutes remaining, Tawaski King's jumper capped a 7-0 run for Western Carolina, tying the game at 50-all with 2:25 to play.
After Sumler's 3-pointer with less than 2 minutes to play put the Catamounts ahead 53-52, Karl Cochran answered with a jumper to put Wofford on top 54-53 with 59 seconds remaining.
Sumler responded with a layup to go on top 55-54 but Spencer Collins' jumper put Wofford ahead 56-55 with just 16 ticks left.
Sumler converted the game-winner on the Catamounts' ensuing possession.
Collins led the Terriers (10-16, 4-9) with 20 points.
