NEW YORK -- Jamal Olasewere scored 20 points and made a pair of crucial plays as LIU Brooklyn fended off St. Francis Brooklyn 83-75 Sunday, sweeping the season series.
Trailing by one with 1:23 remaining, Olasewere took a feed from Jason Brickman and converted on a spin move in the paint to push the Blackbirds (13-11, 8-4 Northeast Conference) ahead for good. He also made a bank shot for an 80-75 lead with 28 seconds left.
The Terriers (9-14, 5-7) missed 3-point attempts on their next two trips while the Blackbirds hit 3 of 4 free throws.
C.J. Garner added 17 points and Jason Brickman 14 with nine assists for LIU Brooklyn, which hit 9 of 18 3-pointers compared to St. Francis' 2 of 11.
The Blackbirds have won eight of nine since a six-game losing streak, including 78-68 over St. Francis on Jan. 24.
Akeem Johnson's season-high 22 points led the Terriers.
