HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Joel Smith scored 19 points, Quincy Ford scored four of his 15 points and had a crucial block in the last 11 seconds and Colonial Athletic Association leader Northeastern rallied past Hofstra 62-57 Wednesday night.
The Huskies (15-8, 10-1), who also beat the Pride 65-60 on Jan. 16, trailed 44-38 with 7:26 left when they launched a 15-3 spurt. Smith made three of his four 3-pointers in the spree, capping it with a layup with 3:30 to go for a 53-47 lead.
After Hofstra (5-18, 2-8) closed to 58-57, Ford hit two free throws with 11 seconds left, blocked Taran Buie's 3-pointer with 2 seconds showing, then hit two more foul shots a second later.
Northeastern, which lost the battle of the boards 40-28, has won 10 of its last 11 games.
Stephen Nwaukoni had 11 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Pride, who have lost seven straight.
