JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Chris Burke's layup with 6 seconds left in overtime lifted Saint Peter's to a 70-68 win over Marist on Thursday night, snapping the Peacocks' eight-game losing streak.
Burke's basket, his only points of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest, broke the 13th tie. Devin Price missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, giving Saint Peter's (7-14, 2-9) a split of the season series.
The Red Foxes (5-17, 2-9), whose 59-48 victory Jan. 19 over the Peacocks was their only win in 11 games, led by seven with 17:04 left in regulation.
A 3-pointer by Desi Washington, who paced Saint Peter's with 26 points, tied it at 37. The lead went back and forth until the Peacocks' Blaise Ffrench hit the second of two free throws to knot it 62-62. Isaiah Morton missed a 3-pointer for Marist with 1 second left in regulation.
Chavaughn Lewis scored 23 to lead the Red Foxes.
