NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Kyle Vinales scored a game-high 30 points to lead Central Connecticut State past Wagner 73-66 Thursday night in a Northeast conference matchup.
Matt Hunter finished with 13 points and eight boards, while Adonis Burbage and Joe Efese each scored 10 to help Central Connecticut State (7-9, 3-2) win its third game in its last four tries.
After Kenneth Ortiz's 3-pointer cut the Blue Devils lead to 53-51 at the 8:02 mark, Vinales scored the next four points, sparking an 11-6 run to go up 64-57 with under 3 minutes to play.
The Blue Devils made seven free throws in the final 1:04 to seal the victory.
Central Connecticut State shot 52.2 percent (12 for 23) in the second half while holding Wagner to just 34.4 percent (11 for 32).
Ortiz finished with 18 points to lead the Seahawks (9-7, 3-2), who have not won at Central Connecticut State since 2004.
