GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Kendrec Ferrara scored 17 points and Larry Wideman hit three 3-pointers in the first half to help Furman beat Wofford 69-65 Monday in Southern Conference action.
Wideman finished with 11 points and Bryant Irwin added 10 for Furman, which shot a season-high 58 percent (23 of 46) and snapped a six-game skid.
Furman (4-11, 1-3) opened scoring with four straight 3-pointers -- two from Wideman and one each from Stephen Croone and Ferrera -- to lead 12-4. The Paladins stretched their lead to 14 midway through the first half behind five consecutive points from Irwin and took a 40-25 advantage into the break.
Furman shot 58 percent (15 of 26) and made seven 3-pointers in the first half.
Spencer Collins scored 18 points for Wofford (7-10, 1-3), which rallied to cut the deficit to 64-63 with 1:58 left to play but was outscored 5-2 the rest of the way.
