LEXINGTON, Va. -- Stan Okoye scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double to lead Virginia Military Institute to an 82-69 victory over Liberty Wednesday night in Big South Conference play.
The Keydets (7-7, 2-0) took a 25-17 lead, led 38-28 at halftime and easily held off Liberty (4-12, 0-2) in the second half for the win. All five VMI starters scored in double figures.
Okoye had 10 points in each half. D.J. Covington scored 18 points, hitting 8 of 12 from the field. Rodney Glasgow added 13 points and Nick Gore 10. Brian Brown's 12 points for VMI came on his four treys.
VMI led by as many as 19 points midway through the second half. The Keydets hit 12 of 31 3-point attempts to 6 of 16 for Liberty. Davon Marshall scored 15 points for the Flames, all on his five treys.
John Caleb Sanders added 14 points.
