NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Lamont Jones scored 22 of his 30 points in the second half as Iona rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Manhattan 78-70 Sunday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.
A layup and two 3-pointers by Jones in the opening 1:15 of the second half gave the Gaels (9-6, 3-1) a 38-37 lead. After the Jaspers (4-10, 2-2) went back in front, Tre Bowman's 3-pointer with 12:56 remaining put Iona ahead to stay, 51-48.
The Gaels, who led the nation with 9.5 3-pointers per game, made 10 of 16, including 8 of 9 in the second half, although their leading 3-point shooter, Sean Armand, was just 1-for-5. Jones was 4-for-5 on 3s and 10-for-10 on free throws.
Taaj Ridley added 14 and Tavon Sledge had eight assists for Iona.
Emmy Andujar scored 17 points for Manhattan, while Rhamel Brown had 16 points, nine rebounds and seven blocked shots.
