GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Alec Brown scored 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds and Green Bay went on to defeat South Dakota 72-55 on Saturday night.
Green Bay (5-7) shot 56.5 percent from the field, making 26 of 46 attempts including six 3-pointers and was 14 of 20 from the free-throw line.
Brown scored Green Bay's first seven points to give the Phoenix a 7-2 lead early, but South Dakota (5-8) stormed back, going on a 15-4 run capped by a Brandon Bos jumper with 10:34 remaining in the first half to give the Coyotes a 17-11 lead.
The Phoenix took over from there, outscoring South Dakota 24-8 to take a 35-25 lead at half time and never trailed again.
Keifer Sykes and 17 points and eight assists while Sulton Muhammad had 10 points for the Phoenix. Trevor Gruis scored 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead South Dakota.
