SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Karl Cochran scored 27 points, 14 in the first half, as Wofford built a big halftime lead and coasted over Winthrop 70-55 Wednesday night in nonconference action.

The Terriers (3-5) lead 11-7 when Indiana Faithfull hit a jumper to trigger a 14-1 run. Wofford went up 31-10 and led 42-19 at halftime. Cochran was involved in every Terriers run.

He hit five of his first six shots, two of three from 3-point range. Wofford was in command by halftime, shooting 16 for 26 from the floor, including Cochran's 3-pointers. Winthrop (2-3), meanwhile, was just 5 for 21 from the field, missing eight of its nine 3-point attempts.

Wofford extended its lead to 55-29 in the second half and finished 27 of 55 from the floor, 7 of 16 on treys -- five by Cochran in eight attempts.

Derrick Henry led Winthrop with 15 points and Joab Jerome added 11.
