HOUSTON -- Connor Frizzelle had 16 points and three others scored in double figures for Rice in a 70-57 victory against Santa Clara on Wednesday night.
Lawrence Ghoram added 15 points, Trey Stanton 14 and Arsalan Kazemi 12 for the Owls (5-4).
Marc Trasolini led Santa Clara (6-5) with 17 points, and Robert Smith and Michael Santos scored 10 each.
The Broncos had 23 turnovers, which Rice converted into 27 points.
A 19-8 run during a six-minute stretch in the second half gave the Owls a 50-35 advantage with 9:27 remaining. Frizzelle had eight points and made two 3-point shots during the run.
