WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- Kevin Hamilton scored 17 points and 11
rebounds as Holy Cross defeated Navy 72-62 Wednesday.
Keith Simmons had 16 points and Torey Thomas added 14 points
with eight rebounds for the Crusaders (15-11, 8-3 Patriot League).
Bryce Brigham had 13 for Navy (10-14, 3-8).
Holy Cross led throughout, scoring the first five points of the
game, then Colin Cunningham scored five points in a 10-2 run for an
18-4 lead with 12:27 left in the first half.
Navy's Kaleo Kina scored five points to narrow the lead to
28-16, but then Simmons and Hamilton each scored four as Holy Cross
had an 11-3 run for a 39-19 lead -- its largest of the game. Holy
Cross led 39-24 at halftime.
After Holy Cross extended its lead to 50-32 with 14:22 left,
Brigham scored two 3-pointers and Greg Sprink converted a
conventional 3-point play. Navy went on a 13-5 run to cut the lead
to 55-45 with 9:56 left.
Hamilton and Thomas each scored four and Hamilton found Simmons
on an alley-oop dunk to extend the lead to 63-47 with 6:39
remaining.
