Furman 67, Wofford 59

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Eric Webb scored 15 points as Furman

made up for poor shooting from the field with plenty of free throws

to beat Wofford 67-59 on Monday night.

The Paladins (14-10, 7-5 Southern Conference) shot just 39

percent (18-of-46) from the field but connected on 27 of 31 free

throws, including eight straight after the Terriers cut Furman's

lead to 57-55 with just under three minutes to go.

The Paladins led 51-39 with nine minutes left before Wofford

(10-15, 5-7) scored the next 10 points to cut the deficit to 51-49

with 5:15 remaining.

The teams traded several baskets before Furman made eight free

throws in a row to take a 65-55 lead.

Wofford shot just 13 free throws, making 10, and was 47 percent

(23-of-49) from the field.

Howard Wilkerson scored 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting and

grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Tyler Berg added 14 for the

Terriers.

Robby Bostain had 14 points and Gerad Punch added 13 for

Furman.
