Stetson 70, Savannah State 60

DELAND, Fla. (AP) -- Stetson senior guard E.J. Gordon scored 17

points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Stetson to a 70-60

victory over Savannah State Thursday

The Hatters overcame a 32-point effort by Savannah State junior

guard Javon Randolph, who connected on 12 of 16 shots from the

floor, including five of six 3-pointers.

Stetson improved to 5-16 overall with its third straight

victory. It was the first time in nearly two years that the Hatters

had won three in a row.

Savannah State fell to 2-22 in the non-conference loss.

Gordon scored nine consecutive points after breaking a 3-3 tie

in the early minutes. He tallied 15 points in the first half while

helping Stetson to a 38-25 halftime lead.

Stetson senior guard Anthony Register added 10 points and was

the only other player in double figures.

The Hatters led by as many as 23 points, 65-42, with 6:18 to

play. However, the Tigers rallied back in the final minutes against

Stetson's reserves, outscoring the Hatters 18-5 in that span.

Randolph connected on four of five shots for eight points in the

final six minutes.
