Utah State 83, Idaho 58

LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Jaycee Carroll scored 19 points as Utah State

ran by Idaho 83-58 Saturday night.

Carroll was one of three Aggies to score in double digits.

Cass Matheus also scored 14 and pulled down a team-high nine

rebounds for USU (11-4, 3-2 Western Athletic Conference). Nate

Harris also scored 13.

The Vandals (3-11, 0-4 WAC) were led in scoring by Tanoris

Shepard with 22 points and Keoni Watson with 14.

Matheus scored the fist 10 points of the second half for USU, as

the Aggies began the half with a 17-5 run and extended the lead to

47-29. After the first four minutes of the half, Idaho never got

closer than 18 points and trailed by as many as 30.

After managing only five points in the first half on 2-of-6

shooting, Carroll made 5-of-6 in the second half, four of them

3-point shots.

In the first half, neither team shot the ball well. USU shot

3-of-11 from behind the 3-point line and 42 percent from the field.

Idaho only managed 10-of-27 shooting in the half and turned the

ball over nine times as USU took a 30-24 halftime lead.

USU came into the game with the fourth best field goal

percentage in the country (51.7 percent). Before Saturday, night's

game, Carroll was 11th in the nation in 3-point shooting at 47.6

percent.
