Nebraska 57, Kansas State 42

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- Aleks Maric scored 15 points and had a

career-high 17 rebounds, leading Nebraska to a 57-42 win over

Kansas State on Wednesday night.

It was the lowest-scoring men's game ever played at Bramlage

Coliseum, which opened in November 1988. Kansas State's 11 field

goals also were its fewest ever in Bramlage.

Jason Dourisseau added 12 points, 10 in the second half, as the

Cornhuskers (12-3, 2-0) broke a four-game losing streak in

Manhattan.

Marcus Walker and Joe McCray finished with 10 points each for

Nebraska, but McCray was injured early in the second half and did

not return.

Kansas State (9-4, 0-2) had an 11-game home winning streak

broken.

The Cornhuskers, who led 24-20 at the break behind 11 points and

13 rebounds from Maric, opened the second half with a 19-2 run.

Nebraska held Kansas State without a field goal for more than 11

minutes in the late first half and the first 9:48 of the second.

A late 10-2 run, capped by Cartier Martin's free throws with

3:01 to go, got the Wildcats within 54-42. But they did not score

again.

Lance Harris' 3-point try rimmed out with 2:25 left, and Wes

Wilkinson's dunk with 1:41 to go sealed Nebraska's win.

The previous record for fewest points in a game at Bramlage was

104, set in the Wildcats' 54-50 victory over Wichita State on Dec.

10, 2003.

Martin led Kansas State with 20 points, and Tyler Hughes tied a

career high with 10 rebounds. David Hoskins, who scored a

career-high 25 points in Saturday's 72-70 loss at Iowa State, was

held scoreless on 0-for-4 shooting.

McCray, who hit the game-winning 3-pointer in Saturday's 59-58

victory over then-No. 12 Oklahoma, scored seven points in the

Cornhuskers' second-half run. But with 14 minutes left, he flipped

over Martin while driving for a layup and crashed to the floor.

McCray lay on his back for several minutes, grimacing in pain,

and had to be helped to the locker room. He had a slight concussion

and would be re-evaluated Thursday, coach Barry Collier said.

Nebraska hit five of its first seven shots from the field to

jump out to an early 11-2 lead, holding Kansas State scoreless for

a span of almost 6 minutes.

The Wildcats were 1-of-11 from the field in the first 13

minutes, their lone basket coming on Harris' jumper in the paint

two minutes into the game.

Nebraska missed its chance to take control of the game early,

though, missing 10 straight field goal attempts over a 6-minute

span before Charles Richardson hit a 3-pointer midway through the

first half.

But after Martin hit a 3-pointer with 2:25 to go in the half,

the Wildcats didn't make another field goal until Schyler Thomas

made a 3-pointer with 10:12 left in the game.
