La Salle 70, James Madison 58

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -- Tabby Cunningham scored 13 and La Salle

remained undefeated with a 70-58 win over James Madison on Sunday.

It's the first time since 1994 the team has started 5-0.

James Juwann's tip-in tied it with 16:08 remaining in the first

half, but La Salle took the lead off Paul Johnson's jumper and

never trailed again. The Explorers used a 16-2 run that included

seven from the charity stripe to make it 25-10 with 5:45 left in

the half. Cunningham's 3-pointer at the buzzer sent the Explorers

into the locker room with a 37-19 lead.

James Madison (2-4) bounced back from 24 percent shooting in the

first half to shoot 44.8 from the field in the second, helped by 21

points from Daniel Freeman, all after the intermission. The Dukes

outscored La Salle in the second half 39-33, but it wasn't enough.

Both teams struggled with turnovers: La Salle had 18 and James

Madison 24 off 17 La Salle steals.

Darnell Harris scored 11 for the Explorers, and Lewis Fadipe and

Steven Smith each had 10.

Cavell Johnson had 13 for James Madison, and James added 10.
