Providence 75, New Hampshire 51

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Randall Hanke had 17 points and nine

rebounds and Donnie McGrath scored 15 points as Providence cruised

to a 75-51 victory over New Hampshire on Wednesday night.

McGrath became the Friars' career leader in 3-pointers made,

going 3 of 8 attempts for 202. That surpassed Jamel Thomas' 201,

made between 1995-99.

Blagov Janev had 15 points and Tyrece Gibbs had 10 for New

Hampshire (0-2).

The game was tied four times before Providence (2-0), pulled

away on 64 percent field-goal shooting in the first half. McGrath

and Hanke combined for 25 points in pacing the Friars to a 44-29

halftime lead.

The closest New Hampshire came was 50-39 on a layup by Jermaine

Anderson midway through the second half.

Providence reserve Sean Van De Walle made a basket at the buzzer

that gave the Friars their biggest lead.

Weyinmi Efejuku had 11 points and Sharaud Curry added 10 for the

Friars.
