INSIDE THE MARYLAND TERRAPINS' CLASS
Brenda Frese has accomplished a whole bunch of things at Maryland -- she has led the Terps to three Final Fours, been named coach of the year and won a national title. But never before has she landed the top recruiting class in the nation.
She's done so in 2016.
With signatures from five Top 100 prospects in her six-player class, including three McDonald's All Americans, Frese did all her work during the early signing period and then held on to the top class.
Leading the way is McDonald's All American and Idaho Gatorade player of the year Destiny Slocum, one of the elite guards in the nation and the picture of pizzazz on the court. Expect Slocum, the No. 7 prospect in the nation, to come in as a freshman and star -- not to mention score -- right out of the gate.
Jenna Staiti, a 6-foot-5 center ranked 16th, is a shot-blocking force with good mobility to go along with imposing size.
Also featured in the class are McDonald's All Americans Kaila Charles, a wing ranked 22nd, and Blair Watson, a wing ranked 29th. Forward Stephanie Jones, ranked 53rd, follows her sister, center Brionna Jones, to Maryland.
Three-star guard Sarah Myers rounds out the class.
