Bernd Wiesberger triumphed in the Open de France at Le Golf National, Paris, after a brilliant closing round of 65 to add to his 66 from Saturday earned the Austrian a three-shot victory over England's James Morrison.

Beginning the day three shots off the lead, Wiesberger birdied five holes on the front nine to reach the turn in 31, including four birdies in a row from the fourth.

Despite an hour's suspension of play due to a threat of lightning, Wiesberger retained his composure, casually carding pars for much of the back nine before a birdie on the final hole capped off an impressive performance.

Overnight leader Jaco van Zyl of South Africa failed to garner any momentum, carding bogeys at the second and eighth in a final round of 73 and third place.

Wiesberger's excellence secured a third European Tour title with playing partner James Morrison finishing his week with a bogey-free 67 to claim outright second on 10 under par.

Two-time major winner Martin Kaymer could only manage a one-under 71 to secure fourth, while Spain's Rafael Cabrera-Bello shot 69 to finish fifth.

Morrison, Van Zyl and Cabrera-Bello earned the three qualifying places available at the Open Championship at St Andrews by dint of their performances in France.
