"That is something I will try and look at a bit more seriously. It all depends on what happens in my career over the next five or six years, the motivation and what I want to do. The NFL is a lot more realistic than the golf one, let's put it that way."
Harry Kane has certainly not given up his dream of swapping his shooting boots for some american football cleats.
The Ballon d'Or hopeful outlined his plans to reporters while on England duty on Wednesday, explaining how he sees field goals as requiring similar skills to penalties -- a skill for which he is recognised as one of the best in the world.
"But as I know with all elite sports, when you watch it on TV people make it look easy you think it is possible but that is not always the case," he added. "If I was to do it, it is something I would take seriously. I would take maybe six months to a year of trying to practice before."
If he does pull it off, Kane wouldn't be the first to have played to a professional standard in more than one sport -- indeed some have even done it at the same time.

Brandon Aubrey -- American football and 'soccer'
Prior to life as a kicker for the Dallas Cowboys, it was 'soccer' that Brandon Aubrey excelled at. At College level he played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, helping them win a National Championship in 2013 and earning All-American honors in 2016. This caught the eye of MLS clubs and he was selected 21st overall in the first round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC.
However, Aubrey struggled to break into Toronto's first team and spent his time with the reserve squad in the USL. After a brief stint with Bethlehem Steel, he moved away from football and worked a regular 9-to-5 job as a software engineer.
In 2022 he got his chance in American football after being drafted 2022 by the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL. He won two championships there, proving he could kick under professional pressure.
Then came the big move. The Cowboys brought him in during training camp in July 2023 following his standout performance in the USFL. He made his NFL debut that same year and exploded onto the scene by breaking the league record for the most consecutive field goals made to start a career (35 consecutive makes).
He has gone on to sign a record-setting contract extension to become the highest-paid kicker in NFL history.
Deion Sanders -- American football and baseball
Deion 'Prime Time' Sanders' concurrent dominance in both professional football and major league baseball remains the gold standard for modern dual-sport excellence.
He famously summarised his balance between the two as "baseball is my girlfriend, but football is my wife."
Sanders was a multi-sport phenom from the off at Florida State University, starring in American Football, baseball, and track. MLB giants The New York Yankees selected him in the 30th round of the 1988 MLB Draft. Less than a year later, the Atlanta Falcons selected him 5th overall in the 1989 NFL Draft.
In September 1989, within the span of five days, Sanders hit a home run for the Yankees and returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown in his NFL debut with the Falcons. He remains the only person to score an NFL touchdown and hit an MLB home run in the same week. The commitment to both sports was demanding and Sanders managed it by having a baseball contract usually running through to July, at which point he would immediately pivot to NFL training camps.
Sanders tried to go even one better by playing both sports on the same day. He played an afternoon game for the Falcons in Miami, flew on a private jet to Pittsburgh, and suited up for the Braves' postseason game that evening (though he did not ultimately enter the game).
He was a huge success in both sports too. During the 1992 World Series, he hit an incredible .533. In the NFL, after signing with the San Francisco 49ers in 1994, he won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year and his first ring in Super Bowl XXIX.
Ian Botham -- Cricket and football
If Kane were to make the grade at another sport, he would be the second former England captain to do so.
One of England's greatest cricketers and now a member of the House of Lords, Ian Botham also played professional football before deciding to concentrate on his blossoming career with bat and ball.
Botham balanced played as a defender from 1878 to 1985 for Yeovil Town and Scunthorpe United with his cricket career. He made a handful of appearances for Scunthorpe in the Football League.
He is one of several cricket stars of yesteryear who were nearly as good with a ball at their feet as they were with one in their hands. West Indies legend Sir Vivian Richards played in Antigua's World Cup qualifying campaign.
C.B. Fry, meanwhile, played football and cricket for England around the turn of the 20th Century and World Cup final hat trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst made a first-class appearance for Essex.
Gerwyn Price -- Darts and rugby
There haven't been many more successful sport switches than that enjoyed by Gerwyn Price who swapped rugby for darts in 2014, taking seven years to become World Champion and world No. 1.
Before his success standing behind the oche, "The Iceman" played under-19 international rugby for Wales. He later played as a hooker for Welsh sides Neath and Cross Keys where he lifted the 2011-12 WRU Challenge Cup. He also swapped codes for a time, representing South Wales Scorpions and Blackwood Bulldogs.
After earning his PDC tour card in 2014, Price impressed as he climbed the rankings before winning the 2021 World Championship by beating Gary Anderson 7-3 in the final at Alexandra Palace.
Currently ranked as the world No. 4, Price has won seven major PDC titles and even came close to taking up boxing before his debut fight in 2022 was called off due to medical advice.
