The Prince of Wales made another European away trip in support of Aston Villa as he attended Tuesday's Champions League match against Barcelona.

William, 44, was joined by his son, Prince George, for the fixture against Barça at a rainy Spotify Camp Nou.

The royals met Barça president Joan Laporta before Lamine Yamal and Raphinha earned the hosts a 3-0 win.

"FC Barcelona is honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and His Royal Highness Prince George to the Spotify Camp Nou," the Spanish club said in a post on social media that showed Laporta with Prince William.

"Thank you for joining us for a special evening of Champions League football featuring your beloved Aston Villa."

A devoted Villa supporter since childhood, the prince has attended the team's games when his schedule allows and has made a special effort to watch them in Europe in recent years.

In May, he was in Istanbul to see Villa beat Freiburg 3-0 in the Europa League final.

He was also present in Paris, accompanied by George, in 2025 for Villa's Champions League quarterfinal against Paris Saint-Germain as the Premier League side returned to the competition for the first time since 1983.

William has been a regular presence at Villa Park, too, including for the 6-0 win against Fenerbahçe last month.

Speaking to the BBC in 2015, he explained he chose to support Villa at school because most of his friends followed either Manchester United or Chelsea and he wanted something different.

"I didn't really want to follow the run-of-the-mill teams," he said.

"I wanted to have a team that was more middle of the table; that could give me the more emotional rollercoaster moments."

Villa were in the Championship as recently as 2019, but have steadily returned to the upper echelons of English football since being back in the Premier League.

Their progress has been especially rapid under coach Unai Emery, who helped them return to the Champions League -- a competition they won in 1982 when it was known as the European Cup -- in 2024.

They were eventually knocked out by PSG in the last eight that year, but went on to win the Europa League last season and are back in the Champions League this term.
