It's official: Taylor Cummings is the most decorated NCAA lacrosse player history.

The Tewaaraton Foundation announced Cummings, a senior midfielder at Maryland, as the 2016 recipient of the award. It's the third time Cummings has won the award, which is a first for any player, man or woman. The Tewaaraton Award, in its 16th year, is given to the top male and female collegiate lacrosse players in the United States each season. Maryland players have won a record seven times.

Cummings led the country's top-ranked offense with 79 points. She also led the Big Ten in per-game averages for ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers.

Her strong performances guided the Terrapins to a fourth consecutive national championship appearance, where they lost to rival North Carolina.

Cummings finished her Maryland career ranked among the school's leaders in several categories: third in goals (229), ninth in assists (94), second in points (323) and first in draw controls (509).
