First Bronx cheerleading squad to make nationals is crowdfunding its way to Florida

In a true "Bring It On" moment, the cheerleading squad from James Monroe High School in the Bronx won the regional competition and qualified for nationals only to have trouble with fundraising.

The squad's coach has noted that their qualification marks the first time a public school from their area has made it to national competition.

Pretty impressive, considering that the squad is so under-resourced that it often doesn't have access to a practice facility.

The squad estimates the total for attending nationals to be around $30,000, and has created a GoFundMe to fund the trip.

"We are asking for the world's help because somewhere, out there, there has to be someone that can relate to starting out with absolutely nothing and end up growing flowers through concrete cracks," the fundraiser reads. "We just need someone to help sprinkle a bit more water so we can really bloom."

Check out their story.

Let's just hope there's no NYC version of Torrance Shipman, Big Red, and the Rancho Carne Toros. Missy is totally fine, though.
