Netherlands chose to bowl v South Africa

With South Africa chasing a net run-rate boost, the Dutch may have done them a favour by asking them to bat first on a warm evening in Bristol. Laura Wolvaardt was happy to put runs on the board and called the ground a "really nice place to play cricket," but also reiterated that her priority is "to win games," before worrying about calculations. Earlier, India beat Bangladesh by five wickets, chasing 137 inside 17 overs, and moved to second in the group with a net run-rate of 2.26. South Africa's sits at -0.546.

Netherlands made two changes after opening batter Heather Siegers was ruled out with illness which has created an opportunity for Sanya Khurana to come back in after she batted at No. 6 against Bangladesh. They also opted for medium pacer Hannah Landheer in place of Isabel van der Woning, who has gone wicket-less in three matches this tournament.

South Africa have stuck to the XI that beat India in Manchester, with Marizanne Kapp declared healthy after she struggled at the weekend. Dane van Niekerk was carded at No. 4, though she may bat lower down. South Africa must win both their matches but, even if they do, they will have to wait for India's result against Australia to know if they have made it to the knockouts.
