Can Kamboj or Prince get to the top of the IPL 2026 Purple Cap table?

Prabhsimran Singh reached fifty off 29 balls BCCI

The Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Punjab Kings (PBKS) game on Thursday evening didn't change things too dramatically on the Orange and Purple Cap tables at IPL 2026, though it did leave the top of the points table looking interesting. But Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) tonight could certainly give us some major changes on the tables for top run-getters and wicket-takers.

Orange Cap leaderboard

The top seven on the Orange Cap table remained exactly where they were: Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH, 508 runs), B Sai Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans (GT, 501), Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB, 484), SRH's Abhishek Sharma (481), KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals (DC, 477), GT's Shubman Gill (467) and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals (RR, 440). The changes in the top ten came just below them.

Prabhsimran Singh, the PBKS opener, top-scored for his team with 57 in 32 balls, and Cooper Connolly, the No. 3, scored 21 in 22. Later, in the chase, MI opener Ryan Rickelton scored 48 in 23 balls. That placed the three of them above Sanju Samson of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), SRH's Ishan Kishan and PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, who are outside the top ten right now.

But Samson and LSG's Mitchell Marsh will be in focus on Friday night. They are the highest-placed batters from their sides, Samson at No. 11 with 430 runs, the same as No. 10 Rickelton but with a lower strike rate - 169.29 to 190.26 - and Marsh at No. 14 with 377 runs. Samson and Marsh are both century-makers this season (Samson, in fact, has two) and a big innings in this game and they could be zooming up the table.

Purple Cap leaderboard

Like Samson and Marsh but much higher up on the Purple Cap table are CSK's Anshul Kamboj and LSG's Prince Yadav. Kamboj has 19 wickets at this stage, only behind the 22 RCB's Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the 21 GT's Kagiso Rabada have. And next to Kamboj on the table is Prince, with 16 wickets. Prince, of course, is in a big group of bowlers with 16 wickets: Rashid Khan of GT, Kartik Tyagi of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and SRH's Eshan Malinga all have the same number of wickets, though Prince has the best economy rate among them: 8.17.
