New Zealand allrounder Mitchell Santner has joined the Mumbai Indians squad in Delhi and is in line to play their second match of the IPL 2026 season against Delhi Capitals on April 4.
Santner had missed MI's opening game along with England allrounder Will Jacks, with both players requesting the team management for "slightly extended time [off] for personal reasons". While Santner has arrived, there is no word yet on when Jacks will join the team.

Santner's addition adds more depth to an already strong MI set-up. They won their opening game of the season convincingly against Kolkata Knight Riders: while they conceded 220 at the Wankhede Stadium, openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton added 148 runs to help MI chase down the target with ease.
Santner, New Zealand's white-ball captain, was picked up by MI for INR 2 crore ahead of IPL 2025 and was retained for this season. He played 13 games last IPL, taking ten wickets at an economy of 7.92. More recently, he led New Zealand to the final of the 2026 T20 World Cup. He scored 120 runs in the tournament, striking at 142.85, and picked up two wickets with his left-arm spin.
MI are seeking a record sixth IPL title, but they haven't reached a final since their last triumph in 2020.
