2:05pm That will be all from us for this game. We hope you enjoyed our coverage, and we would love your company for all the other cricket games that are to follow. Until next time, from Ashish, Chetan, Thilak and myself (Shashwat), it is goodbye!

2:02pm Pant, who has been battling illness for the past couple of days, goes up and collects the Irani Cup from BCCI President Mithun Manhas. He has a beaming smile on his face and he then walks over to his team, who are waiting to celebrate. A top performance from the Rest of India side, and in the end, they did it at a canter.

R Smaran, Player of the Match: (Maturity) I have played these types of knocks back in Karnataka even during my U-23 days, so some experience comes in. Mukesh (Choudhary) was there with me and he played an important part. Glad we could get the win. I don't think of it as a big game and treat every game as the same. Try to give my best (every time I play). (On if he changed his approach between the first and second innings) Nothing much changed. First innings also, my approach was the same - to play positive cricket. Glad everyone could chip in with runs and put up a total we could defend. (On if it was a conscious decision to defend balls on the stumps and go after wide deliveries) I did not notice it while batting. Outside off is my strength and anything that was loose, I put it away for a boundary.

Rishabh Pant, Rest of India captain: When you win, all the pain and fever goes away. (Plan for today) Plan was to bowl fuller. We were more back of a length and we wanted to correct it. We know our bowlers were very good. We corrected that and bowled fuller. Obviously you will get disappointed if you do not stick to the plan. But when you stick to your plan, it feels very good. Smaran, the way he played in both innings, it was an outstanding innings, especially with the position we were in.

Paras Dogra, J&K captain: It has been a really good game - they played really well. It is a learning for us and boys have taken positives. Credit goes to Rest of India. (On the Smaran innings and if they could have done something differently) I thought a lot about it. all credit goes to Smaran - he batted really well. I don't think there is any word (to tell about it), and then Akash and Mukesh bowled really well. (On the upturn in J&K cricket) It all started when Mithun bhai came in and took over. Really thankful they gave me this opportunity to lead this side. The management, selectors, everyone has been backing us up. Looking forward to the upcoming season.

1:39pm Well, that happened rather quickly. Seven wickets in a manic hour of cricket post-lunch. Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep bowled splendid spells just after the interval and once they turned it up a notch, J&K just could not compete. Or show any kind of resistance. Mukesh ended up with six. Akash Deep scalped three, with Choudhary also popping up with the important wicket of Samad.

Not a day J&K will remember fondly, though. They did begin the day well, wrapping up the RoI innings, but after their opening stand was broken, it went downhill. And it went downhill quite rapidly. Plenty to learn from, of course, but when the pressure was amped up, RoI's stars stood up to be counted.

Stick around, folks, we should have the presentation soon.

Mukesh Kumar to Kumar, OUT, gone first ball, and Mukesh is absolutely pumped! Rest of India win the Irani Cup, and the reigning Ranji Trophy champions have been swatted aside! Bashed into the track on middle and leg. Sunil does not pick the length early enough, and he is unable to get out of the way. Dangles his bat as he is swaying away and all he manages is some catching practice to second slip. Hugs, embraces and beaming smiles in the RoI camp; J&K perhaps do not know what has hit them!

Sunil Kumar the last batter in. Think it would be fair to classify this run-chase as improbable now

Mukesh Kumar to Umar Nazir, OUT, number nine goes down too! And this is a procession now. Banged in short and wide. Nazir swings like a rusty gate and the width means that he can only clink it off the toe-end. Extra cover back-pedals and snares the chance. A five-wicket haul for Mukesh Kumar, and he has been full value for it!

Sachin: "I have watched 400 chase and 350 chase in the last few days in ODIs. It was nowhere close to these 3 hours of watching quality bowling "

Mukesh Kumar to Umar Nazir, no run, length outside off, and this shapes away late. Nazir has a loose waft at it and misses the ball by a mile

Nazir to try his luck with the willow. Mukesh Kumar hunting for a five-wicket haul. Two slips and a gully

Mukesh Kumar to Abid Mushtaq, OUT, middle stump out of the ground, and J&K perhaps out of the game too! Hurtled in very full on middle. Mushtaq, for some reason, backs away and looks to go inside-out. The ball sneaks under his bat and then leaves middle stump in a mess. J&K on the brink now!

Mukesh Choudhary to Abid Mushtaq, 1 run, shortish outside off. Mushtaq jumps up onto his toes and runs it down to deep backward point

Mukesh Choudhary to Abid Mushtaq, FOUR, streaky! Slanted in full on middle and leg. Mushtaq has a huge swipe at it and squirts it off the inside edge behind square. Saransh gives chase from fine leg and slides, only for the ball to pin-ball and hit him near the knee while he is in contact with the rope!
