Columbia Lions @ Brown Bears
Castner's 5 TDs fuel Columbia's 42-20 win over Brown
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Kyle Castner accounted for a school record five touchdowns as Columbia roared back from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit to beat Brown, 42-20 in an Ivy League contest Saturday afternoon.
The senior wide receiver splits time as a Wildcat quarterback and scored his first career touchdown against Harvard last week. A week later he threw for two touchdowns and ran for three more.
Castner tossed 2 yards to Rory Schlageter early in the second quarter, then punched himself in from a yard out to tie the game at 14-14. Jakob Prall put Brown back in front with a 90-yard run with 5:00 left in the half to make it 20-14 at intermission. Castner ran in from the 2 early in the third quarter and hit Ryan Young from 25 yards out for his second passing TD. He ran 31 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown and Young added a 9-yard run to complete the scoring.
Columbia (5-4, 2-4) now has beaten the Bears (1-8, 0-6) three straight times and if the Lions beat Cornell in the No. 17 season finale they will clinch back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1961 and 1962.
