Seewald with 3 TDs, Valparaiso beats Butler 36-28
INDIANAPOLIS -- Jimmy Seewald threw for three touchdowns as Valparaiso beat Butler 36-28 on Saturday.
Seewald's scoring throws all came in the first half and included a 53-yard strike to Jarrett Morgan with 7:28 to go in the first quarter. They led throughout the rest of the game and were up 24-17 at the break.
Seewald finished with 18 of 28 passing for 285 yards for the Crusaders (5-5, 4-3 Pioneer League). Chris Duncan ran for a score, Donny Navarro had 84 yards and a touchdown receiving and Dimitrios Latsonas kicked three field goals.
Latsonas hit a 40-yard field goal to give Valparaiso a 17-3 advantage late in the first quarter and two more -- from 37 and 23 yards -- in the fourth to keep the Crusaders on top.
Will Marty threw for 250 yards for the Bulldogs (6-5, 4-4) and was intercepted once. Sam Schrader ran for a touchdown and threw a 23-yard pass for another score.
