Long's late TD lifts Wofford over Furman 34-27
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Brandon Goodson rushed for two touchdowns and threw for a score, and Lorenzo Long ran 7 yards for the winning TD with 49 seconds left to help Wofford hold off Furman 34-27 on Saturday.
Long's winning run for Wofford (6-3, 4-2 Southern) came one play after Goodson threw for a 33-yard pass to Will Gay on third-and-10 with 1:36 remaining.
Furman (2-7, 2-4) went up 27-20 for its third lead of the game one play after Wofford's punter fumbled the snap and couldn't get the kick off. Antonio Wilcox carried for the 5-yard score with 3:56 left in the third.
On the ensuing possession, Goodson capped a nine-play drive with a 33-yard run to tie it at 27 early in the fourth.
Long finished with 72 yards on 21 carries, giving him over 3,000 yards for his career (3,015). Goodson had 121 yards rushing and 66 yards passing.
Reese Hannon had 305 yards passing, two TDs and an interception for Furman. Wilcox rushed for 48 yards and two scores.
