Miami (Ohio) rallies to beat Kent State 18-14
OXFORD, Ohio -- Gus Ragland connected with Kenny Young for a 55-yard touchdown pass and Deondre Daniels got a key interception four plays later to lift Miami (Ohio) to its first win of the season with an 18-14 victory over Kent State on Saturday.
Trailing most of the game, the Redhawks (1-6, 1-2 Mid-American) took their first lead when Young hauled in Ragland's pass around midfield, then eluded two tackles while sprinting down the right sideline for the winning score with 1:34 left. Daniels sealed the win 14 seconds later with an interception to end Kent State's final drive.
Ragland finished with 181 yards passing and also had a 15-yard touchdown throw to Alonzo Smith in the third quarter. Nick Dowd had a 38-yard field goal and the Redhawks also got a safety.
Kent State (2-5, 1-2) got two touchdown runs from Nick Holley, who finished 7 of 11 for 91 yards passing and added 84 yards rushing.
