Shiltz with 4 TDs, Valparaiso beats Butler 42-21
INDIANAPOLIS -- Matt Shiltz threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more to lead Butler to a 42-21 victory over Valparaiso on Saturday.
Shiltz was 19 of 30 for 187 yards passing with scoring strikes of 13 and 5 yards, and touchdown runs of 1 and 12 yards. Jordan Massey and Isaak Newhouse had interception returns for touchdowns for Butler (5-4, 3-3 Pioneer League).
Ryan Clarke had one touchdown pass and ran for another to lead Valparaiso (2-7, 1-5), which has lost four straight.
Clarke threw a 26-yard score to Griffin Norberg, and then ran in from the 5-yard line to pull the Crusaders to 21-14 at halftime. Shiltz threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Zack Wolfe before Newhouse and Massey each had a pick-6 from the 14-yard line to make it 42-14.
Jake Hutson ran for a 5-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter for the Crusaders.
