Sacred Heart overtakes Bryant in 28-19 win
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- RJ Noel threw for a touchdown and ran in two more Saturday to lead Sacred Heart to a 28-19 win over Bryant.
Trailing 10-0 midway through the second quarter, Sacred Heart (5-5, 2/3 NEC) scored three straight touchdowns to capture the lead and then held off Bryant in the fourth quarter to snap a three-game skid.
Noel punched in the go-ahead touchdown from the 2 late in the second quarter to give the Pioneers a 14-10 lead, and later had a 4-yard scoring run to cement the win. He also threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Ose Imeokparia, and Nate Chavious, who finished with 112 yards on 10 carries, had a 15-yard TD run.
Bryant (5-5, 3-2) closed the gap to 21-19 with 11:21 left when Dalton Easton ran in a TD from the 1. Easton threw for 266 yards and a touchdown but had four interceptions.
