North Carolina Central rolls over Saint Augustine's 72-0
DURHAM, N.C. -- Malcolm Bell and Quinn Billerman combined to throw for 259 yards and four touchdowns as North Carolina Central dominated Saint Augustine's 72-0 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday.
Bell was 13 of 20 for 163 yards and one touchdown. Billerman completed 8 of 9 attempts for 96 yards and three touchdowns. They threw to 12 different receivers with Khalil Stinson pulling in five for 41 yards and one touchdown.
North Carolina Central, which had the second-highest scoring game in history, totaled 447 total yards while limiting the Falcons to 166. Saint Augustine's, a Division II school, was held to 31 rushing yards.
The Eagles led 34-0 at the half and was ahead 58-0 at the end of the third quarter.
Mike Jones, who returned five punts for 145 total yards, broke a 46-year old single-game school record for punt return yards.
