Macon scores 2 touchdowns, Liberty beats Presbyterian 21-13
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Todd Macon scored a pair of rushing touchdowns -- including the game-winner -- and the Liberty defense forced four turnovers as the Flames defeated Presbyterian 21-13 on Saturday.
Macon's first touchdown run, a 24-yarder, put Liberty (5-4, 2-2 Big South) ahead 7-3 early in the second quarter. And his second, a burst over right tackle from the 2, put the Flames on top for good, 14-13 with just under four minutes left in the game.
Presbyterian (1-8, 0-4) had taken a 13-7 lead in the fourth quarter on a 9-yard rushing touchdown by Darrell Bridges and Brett Norton's 30-yard field goal.
Desmond Rice broke over right end from the 1, adding the final points to cap a three-play drive that started after Ben Cheek was picked off by Jimmy O'Grady, who ran the interception down to the 9 before he was tackled by Cheek. Cheek completed 3 of 18 passes with three interceptions.
