Coastal Carolina cruises past Gardner-Webb, 46-0
CONWAY, S.C. -- De'Angelo Henderson rushed for 114 yards and two scores to help Coastal Carolina beat Gardner-Webb 46-0 Saturday.
Alex Ross completed 14 of 16 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns -- a 39-yard strike to Craig Weick and a 55-yarder to Bruce Mapp -- for Coastal Carolina (8-1, 3-1 Big South). Mapp finished with five catches for 91 yards and Osharmar Abercrombie added a pair a touchdown runs.
Abercrombie capped a seven-play, 71-yard drive with a 14-yard scoring run with 6:03 left in the first quarter and his run on the 2-point conversion made it 8-0.
After Weick's catch made it 14-0 fewer than five minutes later, Henderson scored on runs of 27 and 14 yards in the second quarter make it 29-0 at the half.
Coastal Carolina had 280 total yards in the first half, while Gardner-Webb (3-6, 2-3) had just 89 and didn't convert a third down on six tries before intermission.
