Miami (Ohio) beats Eastern Michigan for first MAC win, 28-13
OXFORD, Ohio -- Alonzo Smith and Gus Ragland each rushed for a touchdown, and Ragland and Billy Bahl threw touchdown passes to Jared Murphy as Miami (Ohio) beat Eastern Michigan 28-13 in a battle between teams in search of their first Mid-American Conference win of the season.
The RedHawks (2-8, 1-5 MAC) held Eastern Michigan (1-9, 0-6) to just 89 yards through the air and yielded only 103 on the ground.
Ragland capped the game's opening drive by running 9 yards for a touchdown. Smith added a 1-yard run for a score and Bahl found Murphy with a 33-yard touchdown pass to give Miami a 21-0 lead and the RedHawks entered halftime with a 21-3 advantage.
Darius Jackson scored from 2-yards out to cut the Miami lead to 21-10, but Ragland answered with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Murphy.
Dylan Mulder kicked field goals from 49- and 55-yards out for Eastern Michigan.
