Valparaiso defeats Butler 17-3
VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Ben Lehman threw for 157 yards, rushed for 45 more, and had two touchdown passes to lead Valparaiso to a 17-3 win over Butler Saturday.
Valparaiso jumped out to a 14-0 lead after Lehman's 4-yard pass to Spenser Pennington and a 24-yarder to Tony Taibi.
Lehman completed 18 of 33 pass attempts and threw a late interception for Valparaiso (3-7, 1-5 Pioneer). Brandon Hall carried the ball 23 times for 72 yards and Taibi caught five passes for 68 yards.
Butler's Malcolm Weaver was 17 of 37 for 186 yards and an interception for Butler (4-6, 2-5). The Bulldogs' only score came on Jonathan Treloar's 26-yard field goal on the final play of the first half.
Valparaiso converted five of eight fourth down attempts.
