Appalachian State buries Georgia State 44-0
BOONE, N.C. -- Marcus Cox ran for a career-high 250 yards and three touchdowns and Appalachian State held Georgia State to 62 yards of offense in a 44-0 rout on Saturday.
With Ricky Fergerson adding a career-high 123 yards and a touchdown, the Mountaineers (3-5, 2-2 Sun Belt Conference) had two backs surpass 100 yards for the third-straight game, the second straight for this duo. Both had runs longer than 75 yards but all their touchdowns were less than 10 yards.
The Panthers (1-8, 0-6), who lost their eighth straight, entered the game leading the league in passing at 316 yards. However, they were just 9 of 19 for 54 yards and could only muster 8 yards on the ground. They also had three turnovers.
Appalachian State piled up 469 yards on the ground and 567 total, controlling the clock for more than 38 minutes.
