Central Connecticut Blue Devils @ Duquesne Dukes
Duquesne rallies, beats Central Connecticut 24-21
PITTSBURGH -- Dillon Bueschel threw a long touchdown pass and a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to rally Duquesne to a 24-21 win over Central Connecticut on Saturday.
Austin Crimmins added a short field goal with 3:14 left to give the Dukes (6-4, 4-2 Northeast Conference) a 10-point lead. Nick SanGiacomo's third touchdown pass, a 4-yarder to Nick Bacarello with 1:19 to play, gave the Blue Devils (4-7, 2-3) hope. However, Duquesne recovered the onside kick and only allowed Central Connecticut two plays deep in their own territory at the end.
SanGiacomo's touchdown pass to Denzell Jones in the third quarter put the Blue Devils up 14-13.
The key for the Dukes was bottling up Rob Hollomon, one of the leading rushers in FCS and second in all-purpose yards. Hollomon, who gashed Duquesne for 164 yards last year, was held to 59 on 25 carries.
