CCSU runs away from Wagner 52-17
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Rob Hollomon scored four touchdowns on 147 yards rushing and Central Connecticut State posted four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull away from Wagner 52-17 on Saturday.
The Blue Devils (4-5, 2-1 Northeast Conference) led 24-17 early in the fourth quarter before Nick SanGiacomo found Tyrell Holmes for a 59-yard touchdown. Hollomon added two touchdowns in the final quarter and another touchdown pass from SanGiacomo distanced Central Connecticut State from Wagner (2-7, 1-4).
SanGiacomo was 22 of 25 passing for 263 yards and three touchdowns in the game. Four receivers had at least 40 yards receiving for CCSU.
The Blue Devils had a 24-7 lead in the third quarter but a field goal from Wagner followed by a 62-yard rushing touchdown by Brian Gehring closed the gap to 24-17.
Gehring completed 20 of 33 passes for 186 yards but was hurt by two interceptions.
