Central Michigan runs past Miami (Ohio) 21-9
OXFORD, Ohio -- Saylor Lavallii rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns to lead Central Michigan to a 21-9 victory over Miami (Ohio).
Lavallii rushed 19 yards for a score to give the Chippewas (2-4, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter. Miami (0-5, 0-1) responded in the third quarter when Austin Boucher found David Frazier for the 10-yard score.
Central Michigan took the next drive and marched on a 16-play, 84-yard scoring drive, capped off with Lavallii's 3-yard score. Maurice Shoemaker-Gilmore added a 16-yard scoring run with 6:13 left to play, and the Chippewas let their defense do the rest.
Miami's Austin Gearing finished with 108 yards on 15 carries but was unable to find the end zone. This is the third time this season that Miami was held to less than 10 points.
Central Michigan will take on Ohio next week while Miami will play Massachusetts.
