Monmouth Hawks @ Holy Cross Crusaders
Monmouth holds on to a 21-14 win vs. Holy Cross
WORCESTER, Mass. -- The rushing duo of Julian Hayes and Kwabena Asante ran in two touchdowns to give Monmouth its first win of the season, 21-14 over Holy Cross Saturday night.
Hayes and Asante both rushed for over 100 yards -- Hayes for 130 and Asante for 118 -- marking the second game in a row where both achieved triple-digit numbers in the same game. The pair had over 20 carries and a touchdown each.
Brandon Hill's touchdown pass gave the Hawks (1-3) a 7-0 lead with less than a minute left in the first half.
Pete Pujals completed two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to cut a 21-0 lead to within seven points and avoid a shutout for the Crusaders (1-3). Ryan Laughlin, who had a career high four touchdowns in last week's win against Central Connecticut State, only threw four passes and did not play after the first quarter.
