Louisiana Monroe Warhawks @ Florida Intl Golden Panthers
Louisiana-Monroe 23, FIU 17, OT
MIAMI -- Kolton Browning threw for 218 yards and a touchdown and added another rushing to help Louisiana-Monroe beat Florida International 23-17 in overtime Saturday in Sun Belt Conference action.
Browning, who completed 31 of 38 passes, put Louisiana-Monroe (8-4, 6-2) up 7-0 in the first quarter on his 2-yard run.
The teams exchanged scores until Louisiana-Monroe's R.J. Young returned an E.J. Hilliard fumble 36 yards for what looked like the game-winning touchdown. However, Hilliard completed a 58-yard Hail Mary at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime.
FIU (3-9, 2-6) got the ball first in overtime but Louisiana-Monroe blocked the Panthers' 41-yard field goal attempt after sacking Hilliard for an 8-yard loss.
From there, Browning completed two passes to Brent Leonard, then ran for 2 yards before connecting again with Leonard -- this time from 15 yards out -- for the game-winning touchdown.
Leonard finished with 13 catches.
