LOGAN, Utah -- Chuckie Keeton threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as Utah State easily defeated New Mexico State 41-7 on Saturday afternoon.
Keeton was 16 of 26 for 257 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown pass to Kerwy Williams to open the game. Keeton had seven carries for 81 yards, including a 76-yard run and a 9-yard run for touchdowns. Williams rushed for 82 yards, including a touchdown. Chuck Jacobs scored on a 49-yard pass from Keeton.
At halftime, Utah State (6-2, 2-0 Western Athletic) was up 28-0.
In the third quarter, New Mexico State (1-6, 0-3 Western Athletic) made the game 31-7 after Andrew Manley threw a 6-yard pass to Austin Franklin for a touchdown. Manley was 19 of 37 for 177 yards. Franklin had eight receptions for 84 yards and three carries for 16 yards.
With its win, Utah State is bowl eligible for the second-straight season.
