Tennessee State Tigers @ Jacksonville State Gamecocks
Jacksonville St. 31, Tennessee St. 28, OT
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- Washaun Ealey posted 190 all-purpose yards as Jacksonville State upset Tennessee State 31-28 Saturday.
Jacksonville State held possession at its 39 with 6:07 left to play. Two plays later, however, Stephen Godbolt III intercepted Coty Blanchard, giving Tennessee State (7-1, 3-1 Ohio Valley Conference) the ball on its 25.
From there, Trabis Ward and Michael German led the Tigers on a 13-play, 50-yard drive to the Gamecock 25. But Jamin Godfrey missed the game-winning 47-yard field goal attempt as the fourth quarter expired.
After Godfrey missed another field goal in overtime, Jacksonville State (4-3, 3-2) handed the ball to Ealey twice and Thomas Griffin converted from 44 yards despite Blanchard getting sacked on third down.
The Gamecocks snapped Tennessee State's seven-game winning streak and have defeated the Tigers four straight times.
German led Tennessee State with 311 yards on 21 of 37 passing with three touchdowns but threw two interceptions.
