Monmouth Hawks @ Sacred Heart Pioneers
Monmouth (N.J.) 45, Sacred Heart 14
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) -- Brian Boland threw for 288 yards and
four touchdowns and Miles Austin caught 10 passes for 235 yards as
Monmouth beat Sacred Heart 45-14 Saturday.
Austin had 197 receiving yards in the first half as Monmouth
(4-1, 2-0 Northeast) recovered from an early 7-0 deficit to take
control of the game. Boland, who entered the game averaging 297.2
yards, completed 17 of 30 passes.
The Hawks also prospered from Sacred Heart mistakes. Three times
the Pioneers (1-4, 0-2) failed to punt when the snap went over the
head of punter David Wahlen, and twice a safety resulted.
Sacred Heart was limited to 123 yards of total offense. Ed
Pricolo rushed 18 times for 113 yards, including a 77-yard
touchdown on the Pioneers' first play from scrimmage. That run gave
Pricolo the school's all-time rushing record. He has 2,476 yards
for his career despite missing most of his sophomore year with a
hip injury.
